Commuters in Wiltshire have been left frustrated after Swindon’s railway station was left with only having one working ticket machine.

The lack of machines has caused issues for those traveling to and from the town with BBC Wiltshire’s Dan O’Brien among those affected.

First coming across the issue on February 7, Dan said in a tweet to Great Western Railway: "Please can you explain why Swindon station now only has ONE ticket machine?

"The previous 3 seemed to be pushing it at rush hour, but having one for the entire population of the largest urban area in the West of England after Bristol is bonkers. Thank you.”

This question did garner a response from the Great Western Railway’s help official account but the response did not bring much light to the frustrating scenario.

Great Western Railway’s response Tweet said: “Hi Dan, sorry to hear this. I'm afraid I'm not sure why this has been removed, but I will record your feedback – Michaela.”

The issue currently remains though, two weeks on from the initial complaint, with Dan once again taking to Twitter to voice his and other commuters’ concerns.

“Another day… no ticket office open… one solitary painfully slow ticket machine at Swindon, Wiltshire’s busiest rail station… please sort it out @GWRHelp,” read his Tweet on Tuesday (February 21).

The Adver has approached GWR for comment.
