Archive images show the heyday of a former town centre hotspot.
Lava Lounge on Fleet Street served up pints and plates of food to guests for much of the noughties and 2010s but closed in 2017.
The Adver previously highlighted the venue as its pub of the week and praised its staff who became barmen and barmaids of the week.
We photographed its colourful interior, which featured wall art of icons from 1970s and 1980s rock, and reported on the addition of a new outdoor terrace.
After hours, the site became a nightclub playing vintage hits and modern tunes.
In 2021, developer Tunley Properties was given the green light to knock down the former Lava Lounge club in Fleet Street, Swindon, and rebuild it as a six-storey block. In summer 2023, the first details of the new building's layout were revealed, with two shop units on the ground floor and 25 apartments in the five storeys above.
So, in the near future, these images may be all that remain of the Lava Lounge, though it will live long in the memories of those who went there.
