TOWN’S on-loan wing-back Amari’i Bell is surprised to have played as much as he has since joining the club last month.
Bell was on trial for a week before officially joining Swindon on the eve of the win at Barnsley last month and has been ever-present since.
With someone of the pedigree of full Australian international Brad Smith ahead of him when he joined the club, it might not have been expected that Bell would feature as much as he has.
Instead, circumstances conspired that Bell was picked ahead of Smith and, with the Aussie now back at Liverpool, the Birmingham City man will be looking to make the left wing-back spot his own, at least for the duration of his own loan.
That proposition might have surprised a few had you told them that a month ago and the 20-year-old would have been one of them.
Asked if he was feeling like an established member of the first team, Bell said: “Yeah I am and hopefully I can play a few more games now.
“To be honest, I didn’t expect to come in and start. It’s good that I have and I’m really enjoying it.
“This club is a lot more professional than the other clubs (where he was before) – being that the other teams were non-league.
“Everything about it - the way that the coaches help me and whatnot, it’s good here.
“It’s somewhere that I’ve always wanted to come to, knowing the good relationship between the manager here and the people at the Blues.
“I’ve heard good things about the club and I thought it’s somewhere I’d do well.”
