Shrivenham is just over the border in Oxfordshire and has a population of 5,500. Archaeological remains show people have lived at Shrivenham since 400 BC, although some Mesolithic flints which have been discovered suggest human settlement could date as far back at 4,000 BC. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Scrivenham. With Watchfield, Shrivenham forms part of a Fair Trade Zone.
