A SWINDON family were left stranded when their car was caught up in the high tide after parking on a beach in Somerset.
Iain Mazonowicz and his family were visiting the beach near Brean Down in Burnham-On-Sea to celebrate his wife Elizabeth’s 30th birthday.
They had parked their car up on the sands on Easter Saturday morning and did not realise that the tide was still coming in.
When they returned to where they had parked they found their car swallowed by the incoming tide.
Iain, pictured above with his family, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’d parked up on the beach and walked off without realising the tide was still coming in. It was quite a shock when the beach warden found us and told us what was happening – our car was completely surrounded by the sea.
“We rushed down and found some water had got in, but fortunately it’s not badly damaged.”
Beach warden Dave Furber said it was the second time in the space of a week that a driver had been caught out in the high spring tides.
Dave had rushed to find the family as the tide swept in towards their car.
