DOCTORS working at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon are partly behind growing demand for homes to rent in the Marlborough area, says property consultancy Carter Jonas.

Stephanie Johnson, lettings manager at Carter Jonas, said demand is high from doctors at the GWH who want one or two-bedroom accommodation a short drive away and from families needing three and four-bedroom homes.

“Properties within 10 miles of Marlborough, with good primary and secondary schooling are key, especially properties within the catchment of the outstanding St John’s Academy and its feeder schools," said Stephanie.

“We also have a lot of London families moving down with the train lines at Great Bedwyn, Pewsey, and Hungerford being vital for the parent still working in London.

"We have just let a four-bedroom property in Wheeler Close, Pewsey, for £1,300 per month before we even had the opportunity to market it.

“Landlords with the right property really are achieving favourable rents and minimal void periods between tenants.

"Another stylish home in Angel Yard, Marlborough, let for £950 a month six months ago and let again within 12 hours of becoming vacant at £995 per calendar month after two different tenants were determined that they wanted it.”

Monthly rents exclude administration fees. For more details of available properties, contact Carter Jonas on 01672 519720 or email Marlborough@carterjonas.co.uk
