DRUGS have been found stuffed into the trunk of tree by a Wiltshire Police community support officer, patrolling the Penhill/Pinehurst area
The PCSO was making a regular patrol, around midday on Wednesday, April 13, when he saw a man acting suspiciously, coming out of bushes on the Seven Fields Recreation Ground.
The man, a 34-year-old from Swindon, did not have any drugs in his possession but the officer carried out a search of the location and found approximately 150 wraps of drugs, believed to be Class A.
This follows a similar incident on Tuesday, February 16, when the same PCSO was patrolling the Venney Woods between Pinehurst Road and Cricklade Road and noticed two men acting suspiciously, using sticks to dig up the ground near to some lamp posts and trees.
The men were stopped and the officer continued to search the area. There, he uncovered an item wrapped in film which was taken back to Gablecross and found to be 40 wraps of cocaine.
Inspector Martyn Sweett said: "This is a good find, that's a large amount of Class A drugs now off the streets of Swindon.
"Our investigations are still on-going and we are appealing for witnesses; if anyone knows anything about this or saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area at this time, please call PC Jim Neighbour on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
