A SWINDON couple and a child were seriously injured in a head-on crash in which four people died on the A420 last night.
Emergency services were called to a report of a two-car collision between a black Mercedes and a blue Citroen Saxo between the Watchfield roundabout and the Highworth turn off of the Shrivenham bypass at about 11.15pm.
The Saxo was travelling towards Oxford and the Mercedes was going in opposite direction when the two vehicles collided head on.
All four occupants of the Saxo — two men and two women, all in their mid-20s — died at the scene. It is believed they were living in the Northampton area.
They have not yet been formally identified but have been named on social media as Brogan Warren, Sam Kay, Nicoletta Tocco and Krop Jones.
Tributes have also been pouring in for the group of friends who are believed to have been at the Veg Fest music event in Bristol the previous night.
The three occupants of the Mercedes, the male driver, a female passenger in her 30s and a three-year-old boy from Swindon were all taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where they are being treated for their injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
“This was a terrible incident in which four young people have lost their lives,” said Det Sgt Gavin Collier, of Thames Valley Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Bicester.
“We would urge anyone who was driving in the area last night and saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision to get in contact as they may have information which could help us with our investigation into the circumstances which led up to this tragic collision.”
A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.15pm to a report of a two car collision. We sent a number of vehicles and a doctor was also in attendance.
“Four people were sadly confirmed dead at the scene. Three others, two adults and a child, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.”
Tributes have been paid to one of the crash victims Brogan Warren on social media.
It reads: “I’m still completely in shock. What a sad, sad day. R.I.P my beautiful, shining star! I’m absolutely heartbroken and don’t even know what to do with myself right now.
“I can’t get it through my head that I’ll never see your beautiful, smiley face again and I’ll never get to dance and go crazy at events with you again!
“You were one of the most beautiful, kindest people I’ve ever met, and it breaks my heart knowing that I’ll never see you again.
“I will never, ever forget all the beautiful words you said to me, I will always think about you Brogan.”
