POLICE were called to help paramedics after a person was taken ill in Old Town.
Officers from Wiltshire Police were called to assist their ambulance colleagues at 6.20pm to reports of a "medical emergency" on the corner of Victoria Road and Cannon Street.
One person was taken to hospital by land ambulance, police said. Their condition is not known.
Four police patrol cars, a land ambulance and paramedic rapid responder car were seen on Victoria Road and Cannon Street.
Police officers appeared to be conducting door-to-door enquiries and had ringed what looked like a patch of vomit with chalk.
