A CAR fire has closed one lane of the M4 westbound – causing delays of up to 30 minutes.
Firefighters from Drove Road and Westlea fire stations were sent to the car fire at 10.38am. Crews described the car as “well alight” and used two hose jets to extinguish the blaze.
Smoke from the car fire briefly closed two lanes of the M4 westbound between J16 and J17. Highways England said that one lane remains closed.
Update: 12pm: Highways England say that the road has now been cleared and all lanes wesbound are open.
