DOZENS of windows in Old Town and Eastcott will be lit up with colourful designs this weekend, as the area marks its first Window Wanderland festival.

Started in Bristol, the concept sees residents and businesses turn their front windows into a bright canvas.

Around 130 people and organisations have signed up to be involved, including Lethbridge Primary School and Helen Browning’s Chop House.

Yesterday, staff members at Swindon Dance were putting the finishing touches to their window displays.

The charity, which has offices in the former town hall at Regents Circus, has chosen a performance theme for the massive double-height windows in its ornate theatre.

Swindon Dance’s Sarah Fletcher said: “The designs we have chosen are all to do with dance, music and our 40th anniversary celebrations, which are taking place this year.

“I’m looking forward to joining the trail. I’ve already seen some windows lit up in Old Town and I’m looking forward to seeing more people’s ideas.”

The Window Wanderland is organised by the Eastcott Community Organisation and runs 6pm – 9pm, Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3.
