GHOSTLY goings-on and unexplained activities are set to put Swindon on the UFO map as part of Weird Events 2010.
Paranormal investigations will be taking place at various locations around Swindon and Wiltshire over the next 12 months.
Members of the public will be able to function as trainee rational and objective investigators for the evening in some of the most haunted locations in the south west.
There will be seven talks at the Kings Arms in Wood Street, Old Town, which will cover all aspects of the paranormal and UFOs on the last Saturday of every month. The first is planned for January 30, 2010.
An international conference will also bring well-known personalities in the paranormal field to Warminster on August 21 and 22.
Nick Pope, who ran the British Government’s UFO programme at the Ministry of Defence, paranormal researcher Malcolm Robinson, co-founder of the Paranormal Encounters Group Brian Allan and Dr David Clarke, an author, lecturer and journalist of the paranormal, are among the line-up of experts.
Chris Williams, the founder for Swindon UFO Research and the organiser of Weird Events, said last year’s conference attracted “critical acclaim”.
He said: “The next conference is said by some to be the conference to attend in 2010.
“The paranormal investigations will be fast, furious but focused.
“Swindon is set to become the paranormal and UFO hub of the south west next year.”
Weird also sports its own iTunes podcast, Clear Air Turbulence, a mix of topical stories, humour and objective reasoning concerning all aspects of the paranormal.
The show boasts well known guest researches and investigators from across the UK and beyond. The show airs every two weeks with a new guest invited each time.
Details of event dates, ticket prices, the discussion show and speakers can be found at www.weirdevents.co.uk or by calling the Weird Events hotline on 01793 484510.
