SIX foxhounds taking part in the Beaufort Hunt in Wootton Bassett were killed on New Year’s Eve after being hit by a train.
It is believed the dogs ran on to the line into the path of a speeding train after picking up a fox scent.
Captain Ian Farquhar, joint master of the hunt, said: “Our hounds are like our family and we are distraught.”
The Beaufort Hunt has been described as Prince Charles’s favourite hunt.
