DALEKS and other science fiction characters will be invading the North Swindon Library to raise money for charity.
The sci-fi event is being held on Saturday, June 4 and follows a similar hugely successful event at the Central Library last November.
The day kicks off at 10am when the aliens invade the library, while local writer David Johnson will hold two sci-fi writing talks for budding young writers before signing copies of his Crystal Quest book series.
There will be sci-fi themed craft sessions supported by Isambard School and local young musicians will be performing live on the day. Swindon Rock School will also be in the Swindon Council-run library offering 30-minute electronic composing sessions.
The sci-fi creatures are part of the Charity Daleks organisation, a Wiltshire-based fundraising group and they will be collecting for Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care in memory of Elisabeth Sladen, who famously played Sarah Jane Smith in her own and Dr Who’s adventures over many years.
The overall event is free to attend but there is a charge for the music composing workshops of only £1 per session. Tickets will be available from North Swindon Library in advance or on the day.
Ring North Swindon Library on 01793 707120.
