MUSIC lovers were ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ as Toploader took to the stage to headline the biggest Summer Breeze festival to date.
The weekend event saw more than 1,000 people flocking to Warren Farm in Liddington for performances by acts from around the country.
Organisers Sarah Daltrey and Andy Loddington, said the festival had been more popular than ever.
“It has been absolutely brilliant. The weather has been perfect — it’s not too hot or cold. It’s perfect,” said Sarah. “We have had about 1,200 people here so far. It is definitely a family-friendly event.”
Dozens of acts took to the stage including Toploader, Marner Brown, The Backbeat Sound System, Breeze, Paul Child Band and Diversion.
This is the fifth year the festival has taken place but Sarah said it had almost tripled in size for 2011. There was acoustic, folk and ska music in the other two performance areas.
Andy Gibbons, 36, of Gorse Hill, was at the festival with his wife Gemma and children Harry, five, and Nancy, three.
“It is their first festival camping overnight. It is a nice festival to ease kids into because there’s lots of family fun,” he said.
Also among the crowd was Helen Edwards’ hen party, who had come to Swindon especially for the festival.
Helen, 34, of Peckham, said: “We love it, it’s great.
“There are 23 of us here.”
All profits from the event will be donated to Prospect Hospice and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
