SWINDON Town have renewed their interest in Bournemouth striker Wes Thomas by lodging a third bid for the 26-year-old.
The Advertiser understands the Robins, who made two separate approaches of £125,000 and £150,000 for the striker in August - both of which were rebuffed by the Cherries, went back to Bournemouth on Friday with a fresh offer. No response has yet been received from the Dorset club.
Thomas has been a bit-part player at Dean Court this season, making only two starts and 10 substitute appearances for the Championship outfit. He has yet to score this term.
When questioned by the Advertiser, Swindon chairman Lee Power confirmed that Town have made a bid for a striker but he declined to comment on his identity.
The Robins are in need of an extra face up front, after Nicky Ajose was recalled early from his loan spell at the County Ground by parent club Peterborough.
Ajose netted 10 times in 21 appearances for Swindon during his time in Wiltshire and was due to play his final match for Town against Crawley on New Year’s Day before he was summoned by Posh yesterday.
The 22-year-old is expected to feature in Peterborough’s matchday squad for the visit of Brentford tomorrow.
