SWINDON Town’s latest loan signing Amari’i Bell is hoping to regain some lost confidence during his spell at the County Ground.
The Birmingham City defender made his debut on Saturday in Town’s 3-0 win at Barnsley – having only signed the day before – with a steady performance.
It was his first match since playing in a Conference fixture between Kidderminster and Halifax back in April last season.
The 20-year-old has spent just over a month on loan already this season, going to League Two Mansfield Town. However he was recalled by the Blues after three weeks at Field Mill after receiving zero minutes of game time.
That has already been addressed by Swindon, with Bell playing a full 90 minutes at Oakwell.
Now with his debut out of the way, the Burton-born defender is hoping to rebuild some of the belief in himself he lost during his time in Nottinghamshire.
“Mansfield wasn’t the best,” said Bell. “It left my confidence low, so it is good to come here, play a few games and get my confidence back up.
“Everyone here is buzzing, the confidence is high in the dressing room. (We’re) looking to keep on winning games and keep the confidence there.
“I want to play as many games as I can, to give me that chance when I go back to be in and around the first team at Birmingham.”
Bell deputised for the injured Brad Smith at left wing-back but is also capable of playing at centre-back too. Town now have competition for every position, something Bell is happy to provide.
“Brad is a good footballer and a good guy, but the competition is there so I’m happy with that,” he added.
“All the boys spoke to me and made me feel welcome so it is good coming to a team like that.”
“It is always easier to come in when a team is doing well, so that you can get into that rhythm quickly. So it is good to come here, the confidence is big, also it gives me confidence to perform.”
