LAWRENCE Vigouroux believes Swindon Town have started to see the best of Jordan Williams, after his fellow Liverpool loanee starred in Saturday’s win at Southend United.
Williams moved into defence after Town skipper Nathan Thompson had to leave the field with a groin injury after just 10 minutes at Roots Hall.
Initially at right-back, before switching with Raphael Branco to play centre half, the Welsh youth international enjoyed his best competitive game in a Swindon shirt.
The impressive display would have come as little surprise to those who saw Williams play so well in pre-season, where he was exclusively employed in the back line.
However since the league season kicked off Town boss Mark Cooper has preferred to use the 19-year-old as part of his midfield three.
Having played behind him regularly for Liverpool’s under 21s, Vigouroux knows Williams’ game well and thinks he is now starting to show his best form.
“He was terrific (at Southend). That’s the Jordan Williams I’ve played with at Liverpool,” said the stopper.
“I’ve only played with him for a year and I can’t really put into words how good he is. He is a very, very good player.
“I think he will go all the way.
“The fans just have to be patient and you will get the best of him.”
Vigouroux has been impressing the Town faithful in the early stages of his Town career, but has also provided some nervous moments when rounding on-rushing attackers.
The keeper is clearly in the right place at Swindon if he enjoys playing from the back and has told the fans they can expect to see his fancy footwork continue.
“That’s my game, I’m suited to having the ball at my feet,” he added.
“Teams will try and find a way to stop us playing. We’ve just got keep doing what we do best and that’s passing it everywhere. The goalkeeper, the striker, everyone has got to pass it. That’s our style.”
