DANNY Wilson has called on his side to not let their foot of the pedal, after Charlie Austin’s second-half strike lifted Town to the verge of the League One play-off places.
Austin grabbed the winner – his second goal in as many games – as Swindon saw off high-flying Huddersfield 2-1 at a blustery County Ground last night.
The victory moved them up to seventh place, but Wilson insists there is still plenty of hard work to do if they want to continue to challenge at the right end of the division.
“It was very hard fought – not just to cope with the team we were playing against, but also with the conditions,” admitted the manager.
“We both tried to play football in very difficult conditions, and thankfully we got the goal in the second half which was enough.
“We’ve now got to maintain it. It’s only November and there’s a lot of big games in front of us yet.
“But it puts us in that area where we want to be and it keeps it nice and tight. We needed that.”
Wilson also revealed he is only expecting to land one of the two loan targets he had originally identified.
The boss explained earlier this week the “goalposts had been moved” with regards to one of the players, but there could still be a new arrival providing a fitness concern gets the all-clear.
“I am confident it will come off, but there is a little niggling injury that we will have to check out first,” explained Wilson.
“It’s more likely to be one unless things change dramatically overnight tonight, but we will have to check on his injury. It’s only a slight injury but we hope it won’t keep him out for too long.
“I am hoping we will know something at lunchtime as to what and who.”
