BILLY Bodin will make a final decision on his Swindon Town future within the next seven days, and the forward has revealed that the opportunity to play regularly will be a crucial factor in whether or not he stays at the County Ground.
The Wales Under 21 international, who has been offered a two-year deal by the Robins, featured just 11 times under Town manager Paolo Di Canio in 2011/12 and was farmed out on loan to both Torquay and Crewe over the course of the campaign.
Bodin excelled at Plainmoor and made a good impression at Gresty Road to prove that he has what it takes to cut it in the professional game, and he is looking for reassurances that he will be allowed the chance to flourish at Swindon before he commits himself to the club.
However, with the deadline for him to respond to Town’s offer less than two weeks away, and with Bodin keen to start his summer break, the 20-year-old said a decision is imminent.
He told the Advertiser: “My season only just finished yesterday (Sunday) so I’m going to have a chat to my dad and my agent in the next few days and have a think about it and see what happens.
“I haven’t made a decision yet but probably in the next week or so I’ll know where my future lies. I need to have the chance to sit down and talk about it, so probably in the next few days or so.
“I want to be playing games and that’s a big reason why I would sign. If the manager wants me to be a squad player that’s not what I really want.
“If the manager says I’ll be playing or starting games then I’d be happy to sign. I just don’t want to have a season like last season, going out on loan and things like that.”
