JONATHAN Obika has confirmed that he has rejected a new contract at Swindon Town.
New manager David Flitcroft said at yesterday’s press conference that the striker saw his future elsewhere when his current deal runs out at the end of the month.
And this morning, the former Tottenham Hotspur man took to Twitter to thank the Town fans for their support over the last three years at the club.
Obika tweeted: “Thank you for the memories! #STFC”
The 26-year-old arrived at the County Ground in September 2014 for a reported fee of £200,000 from Spurs.
Having had an unsuccessful loan spell at Town in 2011, Obika quickly got the fans on side when he netted two goals in the first half of his debut at Bradford City.
The striker went on to make 94 appearances in a Swindon shirt and netted 25 times.
However, Obika endured a frustrating campaign last term as he suffered a number of niggling injuries.
