The story of the Post Office Horizon scandal will be coming to Swindon later this year after the story was thrust back into the headlines by an ITV drama.
The scandal saw 736 subpostmasters prosecuted by the Post Office after a fault in an IT system made it appear that money was missing at branches across the country.
It has been adapted into a primetime ITV drama starring Toby Jones entitled ‘Mr Bates vs The Post Office’ which has captured the interest of the nation this year.
Now the journalist who first broke the story, Nick Wallis, is touring the country to give live audience talks about the story and research.
‘Post Office Scandal – the Inside Story’ will arrive in Swindon in May and features a full history of the scandal.
Nick will talk about how the scandal happened and who was responsible, while also providing some insight into the personal stories of those directly affected.
Nick will also bring viewers up to speed on the latest developments and offer some pointers as to where things might end up.
The reporter will be joined by Nicki Arch who was a branch manager at Chalford Hill post office in Stroud.
In November 2000 she was suspended by the Post Office for an alleged £24,000 discrepancy.
Nick will be visiting the Wyvern Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday, May 13 with tickets currently priced at £23 per person.
