Fast food giant McDonald’s is moving ahead with its plan to open a drive-through restaurant and take-away in a business park in east Swindon.
The company has applied to put up signs advertising its presence at the park, which is still being developed and expanded.
The main free-standing ‘totem’ sign will feature the iconic ‘golden arches’ M symbol and the words ‘Drive-thru’.
There is a separate application from the company to be allowed to put up another 23 signs showing things like the location of accessible parking, pedestrian crossings, the 10mph speed limit, and the location of bins saying “Litter looks rubbish”.
No decision has yet been made on the original planning application for the development of the land south of the A420 and to the west of Laines Way.
It will feature the McDonald's restaurant and drive-through coffee shop and commercial units for other businesses, as well as parking spaces and landscaping.
The application by developer Fortitudo says: "The site is identified for development in the New Eastern Villages development to form part of the district centre, within Great Stall West.
"These are all uses identified as acceptable by the masterplan in the District Centre, and are appropriately located on the edge of the district centre in close proximity to the road network."
