Public Notice

Expansion of Crowdys Hill School

Expansion of Crowdys Hill School

Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Swindon Borough Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to Crowdys Hill School, Jefferies Avenue, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN2 7HJ from 1st September 2016.

The Local Authority is proposing to expand and extend Crowdys Hill School by adding a 36 place primary provision that is reserved for pupils with special educational needs. This notice seeks to extend the age range from the current 11-19 status to include primary pupils thereby enabling the school to offer educational provision for the full 4-19 age range.

The current capacity at Crowdys Hill is for 178 pupils and the proposed expansion will increase this to 214 pupils. This additional capacity will be secured through expanding the current school site, and reorganising some existing buildings into a primary provision. This will enable the school to offer educational provision for the full 4-19 age range, improving suitability, and ease the transition of year 6 pupils going into year 7. With current Borough pressures it is predicted that the initial intake will be 16 pupils in September 2016. The second intake in September 2017 should see the school full at 36 pupils.

This notice is an extract from the complete proposal. Copies of the complete proposal can be found at: www.swindon.gov/crowdyshillprimaryprovision or obtained from: Jayne Smith, Swindon Borough Council, Wat Tyler House, Beckhampton Street, Swindon, SN1 2JG.

Within eight weeks from the date of publication of this proposal, any person may object to or make comments on the proposal by sending them to educationplaces@swindon.gov.uk
