Notice of Confirmation of An Order Highways Act 1980
Swindon Borough Council Footpaths 74, 98, 238, 240, 561, 581 & 650 Swindon Order 2012
On 22nd February 2012 Swindon Borough Council confirmed the above order made under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to extinguish the following footpaths, all in the unparished area of Swindon: Footpaths 238 and 240, and parts of Footpath 74, forming part of a continuous route from Drake’s Way, Walcot, to Ocotal Way via the canal towpath; Footpaths 98 and 581, leading from Shaftesbury Avenue, near Honiton Road, Park North, to the Dorcan Stream; Footpath 561, leading from Bentley Close to Twyford Close, Park North; and part of Footpath 650, leading from the junction of the Queen’s Drive-Marlborough Road cycle route and the Oldlands Walk- Coate Water cycle route, west of Coate Water roundabout, to a point 25 metres northwest of that junction.
A copy of the order as confirmed and the order maps may be inspected at the One Stop Shop, Beckhampton Street, Swindon, between 8.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday. Copies of the order and maps, costing £15.00, may be purchased there.
The order comes into force on 24 April 2012, but if a person aggrieved by the order wishes to question its validity, or that of any provision contained within it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, that person may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 42 days of the date of this notice make an application to the High Court.
