I hereby give notice that the Wiltshire & Swindon Fire Authority has amended its scheme of allowances payable to members of the Authority with effect from 27 September 2012. The scheme provides for the payment of the following allowances, the current rates of which are shown below:

Basic allowance to each member - £2574 p.a.

Special responsibility allowances to:

Chairman of the Authority - £10725 p.a. ) only one payable

Vice-Chairman of the Authority Leader of a recognised political group - £4578 p.a. ) to any one £2145 p.a. ) member

The amounts of the above allowances are the same as those prior to the effective date of the amended scheme.

There has been no increase. They are index-linked to the average annual salary award for local government staff.

The scheme permits members of the Authority to claim travelling and subsistence allowances for specified duties at the same rates as claimable by local government staff.

The scheme of allowances may be inspected at the Fire & Rescue Service HQ, Manor House, Potterne, Devizes SN10 5PP between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (Mondays to Thursdays) and 9.00am and 4.30pm (Fridays).

The scheme can be found on the Service's website www.wiltsfire.gov.uk.

Copies of the scheme are available on request to the Clerk to the Authority at this address.

Any local government elector for the County of Wiltshire or the Borough of Swindon, on giving prior notice to the Clerk to the Authority, may inspect the record of payments made under the scheme of allowances and may request a copy.
