Introduction of Car Club Bays in Swindon

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 10th October 2012 the Council made 2 Orders titled 'Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation Order 2011) Experimental Order (No 3) 2012' and 'The Borough of Swindon (Fee Paying Off-Street Parking Places) Consolidation Order 2003 Amendment Order (No. 1) 2012' under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to be operative from the 17th October 2012 for the duration of 12 months.

The effect of the Orders is to remove approx. 5 metres of the existing restrictions on Wellington Street (West Side) and Princes Street (East Side) to allow for the provision of a car club bay at each location. There will also be an introduction of a car club bay at Prospect Place car park.

The Car Club Bays will be designated for the parking of a car club vehicle for which displays a car club permit for the specified car club vehicle and car club bay location. A contravention will incur if any other vehicle is parked at a car club bay. The Car Club bay will be in operation for 24 hours, Monday to Sunday.

Copies of the Orders and plans showing the location of the car club bays may be inspected at the One Stop Shop, Wat Tyler House, Euclid Street, Swindon during normal office hours or online on www.swindon.gov.uk/highwayregulation.

The Experimental Orders have been made to provide a car club facility as part of the Swindon Travel Choices Project which promotes safe and sustainable transport.

Any person wishing to make representations whether to object or support to the Orders before they are made permanent must do so in writing quoting the reference (TRO/Car Club Orders/2012) specifying the grounds on which they are made within 6 months of this experimental Orders coming into force or if the Orders are subsequently varied or modified within 6 months of the variation or modification coming into force.

If you wish to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffc Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within 6 weeks from 10th October 2012 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
