After the Queen's passing last week, we remember the numerous royal engagements she attended.
This included the monarch visiting Wiltshire mulitple times.
1950: The Queen visited Swindon on November 15th 1950 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Swindon being officially recognised as a borough. At this time, she attended as Princess Elizabeth due to not becoming Queen until 1952.
During the engagement, she visited the GWR Railway works, opened the garden of rememberance in Queen's Park and also the playing fields in Moredon.
1954: Her first official visit to Wiltshire as Queen involved presenting the Royal Welch Fusilliers with new colours at the Wroughton Airfield.
1971:The Queen returned to Swindon with her husband, Prince Philip for official duties at the Civic Centre and the Wyvern Theatre. She gave a speech before declaring the centre open.
1973: The Queen visits RAF Lyneham.
1988: On June 24th 1988 the monarch visited the Royal Dragoon Guards in Tidworth.
1990: The Queen visited Devizes on August 8th 1990 for the opening of the Kennet & Avon Canal in Devizes.
1997: The Queen visits the Brunel Shopping centre in Swindon, alongside Lydiard Park where she unveiled a plaque to commemorate her visit. Her visit ended with a lunch at Lydiard House.
1998: October 26th 1998 marked the Queen's last visit to Swindon. On this day she opened the new Motorola factory at Groundwell.
2001: On December 7th 2001, the Queen and Prince Philip visited Calne, Chippenham and Malmesbury. Beginning in Calne where she unveiled Rick Kirby's head sculpture and toured around the John Bentley School. In Chippenham the royals met the town councillors and then finished their visit in Malmesbury at the Dyson Appliances factory.
2012: As a part of her Diamond Jubilee Tour the Queen and Prince Philip visited Salisbury Cathedral, met the Bishop of Salisbury, looked around exhibitions and met local children and stonemasons.
2020: Her last visit to Wiltshire occured on October 15th 2020,when the Queen formally opened the Energetics Analysis Centre in Porton Down at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. The Queen, accompanied by Prince William witnessed a display of a Forensic Explosives Investigation, met Counter Terrorism and Security staff and military individiuals involved in the Novichok incident.
Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral will take place on September 19 and it will be a National Bank holiday.
