COMMUTERS were hit with severe delays around Swindon this morning as storms continued to batter the town.
Many roads in and around the town have been hit by flooding, with the worst affected areas including Queens Drive, Tadpole Lane and Lechlade.
The Environment Agency said a flood warning is in place along the River Ray, which despite returning back within its banks in many locations, remains sensitive to any further rain.
A spokesman for the EA said no homes are currently flooded but more heavy showers are expected across the area later this morning and through the afternoon.
Wiltshire Police have said Church End in Purton is currently flooded, but is passable with care.
All across the UK devastation comes in the wake of the relentless downpour and storms. Here is a video of the problem in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, where seafront properties along the promenade were again evacuated to a rest centre at a local school. Across the country dozens of flood warnings, including some severe, remain in place.
