AUDIENCES will be shouting ‘he’s behind you’ when the Immanuel Dramatic Society perform their annual pantomime.

This year, the group are performing Sleeping Beauty from January 11 to January 18 at Immanuel Church Hall in Upham Road.

The pantomime is in memory of longstanding member Ann Pidgeon, who died in May, who was a member of the Immanuel Drama Group for nearly 60 years.

Wendy Payne, who wrote the pantomime, said: “It’s a good evening of entertainment, which is very reasonably priced and you can bring the whole family.

“We would love to see everyone there and give them a good evening.”

The show, which has been directed by Brian Leakey, includes about 20 dancers from the Estelle School of Dance under the direction of Pat Bennett.

There are also about 21 cast members, and they will be performing to an invited audience of charitable organisations and residential homes around Swindon on January 10.

“We are an amateur group but we try to do a professional show as much as we can,” said Wendy.

The Immanuel Dramatic Society has been running for nearly 60 years. The youngest member is 14 and the eldest is 80.

“We have got a few new members in the pantomime this year and we will welcome new members in 2014,” said Wendy.

“You don’t have to be able to act or sing, you could help front of house or backstage.”
