NOT a single ticket remains for next week’s Punt and Dennis show in Swindon.
The enduring double act, who have worked together for the best part of 30 years, play the Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday.
Their audience is promised: “Life on the road is all rock’n’roll glamour.
“Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis live the dream as they cruise the contraflow lanes, follow the one-way systems, unwrap the pasties and sip the service station coffees of Britain in their quest to find somewhere to park vaguely near a theatre in your town.”
Recently described by a reviewer from a national broadsheet as the kings of satirical comedy, Steve and Hugh first found fame in the 1980s with their work on Jasper Carrott’s shows.
They were also involved with Spitting Image and – with Rob Newman and David Baddiel – the Mary Whitehouse Experience, the seminal turn-of-the-90s comedy series.
The latter show made major stars of all four participants and helped to pave the way for today’s stadium-filling comics.
When not working together, Steve and Hugh have their own careers, Steve mainly as a writer and radio performer and Hugh as an actor and longstanding Mock the Week panellist.
His starring role in partly-improvised family sitcom Outnumbered is set to be reprised when the series returns for a fifth run later this year.
Tuesday’s Wyvern show is part of the theatre’s Hellfire Burger offer with a burger and trimmings plus a cold beer available for £10 from 5.30pm. – BARRIE HUDSON
