AVON and Somerset Police has ended its pursuit of two men, believed to be from Swindon, after an arrest was made in connection with a Bristol rape investigation.
A 27-year-old man from the Salisbury area, who is believed to be one of the men released in CCTV images yesterday, has been arrested and bailed until March 21.
The force had put out an appeal for information on two men it believed to be from Swindon yesterday, though this has now been concluded with the arrest.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a woman in Bristol last month.
“The arrest resulted from a phone call we received yesterday, following an appeal for information.
“A 24-year-old woman was seriously sexually assaulted in the St Michael’s Park, Clifton and close to Alfred Place, Kingsdown, in the early hours of Sunday, December 15.
“The man, who is from the Salisbury area of Wiltshire, has been interviewed and released on bail until March 21.”
