DESPITE the recent heavy rain, work on the Regent Circus development is continuing on schedule.
A leisure complex is under construction on the site of the old Swindon College building which will see a cinema, supermarket and a number of restaurants built.
It is hoped developers will be able to hand over for fitting at Easter ready for a September opening.
James Digby, of Ashfield Land, said: “We finished all of the groundwork sometime ago so the weather has not had any real effect and we are still on target.
“The roof is now on the supermarket and we have started putting cladding on the side of the cinema.”
The £50 million project will see a Cineworld and a Morrisons supermarket, along with restaurants including Nando’s, Prezzo, Ask and Coal.
Most of the units will now be occupied with an announcement on further restaurants expected shortly.
“After several years of planning it is really good to finally see the development taking shape,” said James.
“We have been in talks with several companies very interested in filling the final few spaces and I should be able to give more details shortly. ”
