A REVISED library strategy is open for public consultation until April of this year.
The emerging strategy will take into account the financial challenges facing Swindon Council and the role that libraries play within local communities.
Members of the public are being asked to tell the council what libraries mean to them and how they would like to see the library service delivered in the future. The draft library strategy can be viewed on the Library Strategy Consultation webpage.
The consultation will run until 5pm on Monday, April 14, and people can email their views to: krwilliams@swindon.gov.uk or write to: Councillor Keith Williams, Library Strategy Consultation, Cabinet Office, Civic Offices, Euclid Street, SN1 2JH.
An online questionnaire will be available via the council’s website next week. People can also give their views at the council’s regular locality meetings. Paper copies will also be available in libraries or on request. The results of the consultation will be presented to the council in June.
Coun Williams, who is responsible for libraries, said: “We are facing unprecedented financial challenges and have to find savings of £48m over the next three years. To do that we need to look closely at how we deliver services.”
