A HEATED argument ended with an 18-year-old man being stabbed four times in the head during the bank holiday weekend.
At around midday on Saturday, the teenager was approached by a pair of men in a residential street in Park North and a fight broke out.
The teen, from the Swindon area, suffered four shallow stab wounds to the head, and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A 25-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
The second offender, who police believe to be of a similar age, is still being sought by police.
The incident occurred close to an open grassed area near Lyndhurst Crescent and Dulverton Avenue.
Paramedics were called and took the man to Great Western Hospital after half an hour, once they were sure he was in a stable condition.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We believe a weapon has been used but at this stage it is unclear what that might have been.
“The man has also been kicked and punched to the body.”
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: “An 18-year-old male had suffered lacerations to his head, which fortunately were non-life threatening. “The man was released from hospital later the same day.
PC Sarah Monday, of Swindon CID at Wiltshire Police, said: “We are appealing for information following an incident where an 18-year-old male was seriously assaulted by a group of males. “It took place near to a grassed area adjacent to Lyndhurst Crescent and Dulverton Avenue.”
The assault was carried out in broad daylight and in the middle of a residential estate, so police are confident someone in the area would have seen something to assist them in their enquiries.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact Swindon CID on non-emergency number 101,” said PC Monday.
“Callers are reassured that information left will be treated with the utmost confidence.”
