1947: The Mayor of Swindon Ald GH Selman opened the Road Safety Exhibition at the Arts Centre.

1961: A joint council of educationalists and representatives of industry to help in the placing of apprentices was suggested by Swindon technical teachers.

1979: Swindon pensioners praised the coach driver who saved their lives by averting a serious crash when carrying them back from a trip to Minehead.
