1947: Members of the GWR Swindon Athletic Association had to get busy erecting additional stand accommodation for their cricket ground in Shrivenham Road, in readiness for their Minor Counties match between Wiltshire and Surrey 2nd.

1957: The main Wiltshire School Buildings Programme for 1958/59 would cost £643.536, it was revealed at the Wiltshire Education Committee meeting. Included in the main programme is Swindon Park County Grammar School.

1977: Dole queue depression hit Wiltshire and the Thamesdown jobless figures were the worst of the lot. The Thamesdown figure of 5,962 unemployed was the highest ever – and over 1,000 more than the total in May.

2013: After a year of discussions Swindon Council and Forward Swindon hoped they had a plan to transform the Locarno that would please everyone. The council and the independent group it funds to promote the town completed a planning brief for the Corn Exchange, previously known as the Locarno.
