POLICE are appealing for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Old Town.
On Thursday, July 24, shortly before 12.55pm, an incident took place in the Town Gardens.
A 25-year-old man was stabbed with a knife several times during an assault which took place in front of several members of the public.
He was taken to the Great Western Hospital with serious injuries but later released.
Following the incident, which happened while the park was busy, the weapon used in the attack was swiftly located by police officers who cordoned off part of the park for forensic purposes.
As a result of initial police inquiries, two men aged 18 and 20 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with this incident.
They have both been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Officers are now keen to locate Dzung Nguyen, aged 20, who may be in Wiltshire or the Avon and Somerset area, in connection with the attempted murder.
He is described as Chinese, approximately 5ft 6ins with black hair and brown eyes.
Speaking at the time, Swindon Superintendent Andrew Carr reassured the Old Town community that a robust police investigation was ongoing and warned them that there would be a heightened police presence in and around the area in the days following the incident.
Anyone with information about Nguyen’s whereabouts is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
