RESIDENTS can meet Thames Water representatives and contractors this week to find out about flood alleviation schemes planned for two areas of the town.
A project in Wichelstowe will see a new sewer built to connect into the existing Barfield Road pumping station. This will increase the capacity of the sewer network to deal with increased waste water from new developments and during heavy rainfall.
Residents will be able to find out more about the scheme and how construction work will impact on the area at Even Swindon Community Centre, Jenning Street, tomorrow. The project team will be on hand from 3pm to 7pm to talk through the plans and answer questions.
The second scheme is planned for the Commonhead area where a new sewer and pumping station will be built. Residents can find out more by visiting the Lawn Community Centre, Guilford Avenue, on Friday between 3pm and 7pm.
Thames Water is investing more than £8m in the two projects which follow on from other flood alleviation schemes in Swindon in Haydon End and Cheney Manor.
