A FOOTPATH in Liden is currently being guarded by Wiltshire Police officers whilst an investigation into an incident late yesterday afternoon is carried out.
The path links Eastmere with Liden Drive and is currently cordoned off at both ends, with a car and officer denying anyone access to the path.
Residents in the area believe the incident occurred some time between 3.30pm and 5pm yesterday, but officers making inquiries have given little away thus far.
Lorenzo Perry, 57, of Eastmere, said: “I was working on my son’s car in the garage all-day yesterday with the door open and I didn’t see or hear anything.
“A female officer came over yesterday, probably between 3pm and 3.30pm, and asked me if I heard two men shouting or fighting, but I told her I heard nothing.
“It was about two men arguing, shouting, that kind of thing. I didn’t hear them, but I did police searching the wood afterwards and one officer say they found something or said ‘it’s here’.
“I heard them trampling around in there. There’s obviously something in there they’re protecting.”
There has been no indication from police as to how long the cordon will be in place, but an appeal for witnesses to an incident is expected today.
