HUNDREDS flocked to the Moonrakers to do their bit for charity while enjoying a little luxury at a special Pamper Night.

The pub opened its doors to visitors for an evening of massage, reflexology, manicures, pedicures, hypnotherapy and other treatments.

They also had a chance to look at stalls of jewellery, jams, chocolates and tarot readings.

They raised more than £1,000 for a pioneering new breast cancer treatment.

Raffle prizes included a hamper of make-up from Boots, and a hamper of chocolates from Thorntons.

Organiser Trish Toner said: “It was a brilliant. We raised about £1,100. I was promoting it for two months and I did sell around 200 tickets.

“The Moonrakers is such a good venue, especially after Bev Neal the landlady took over.

“I’m so grateful too, everyone has been so generous with their time. Bev has been brilliant, as has Ros Burden who helped to organise it with me.”

The evening was in aid the Great Western Hospital’s charity Brighter Futures, which raises money for treatments unavailable on the NHS.

The charity hopes to raise £75,000 to fund a year’s worth of intra-operative radiotherapy treatment for around 150 women each year.

The treatment, administered directly to the tumour while the patient is still in the operating room, is reputed to cut recovery times.
