A SWINDON man left critically injured after being hit by a car at the weekend is recovering after surgery.
Police say the 20-year-old - who is being treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford - has severe head and leg injuries but is now in a stable condition after an operation yesterday.
Police have been unable to talk to the man to find out what happened, and his family are said to be by his bedside.
He was walking towards Swindon on the A420 road to Oxford when he was hit by an orange Nissan Primera car travelling in the same direction at 1am on Sunday morning.
