TODAY is the last day which people can register to vote in next month’s local and general elections.
A new system of registration was introduced last year meaning every person eligible to vote must register themselves.
Previously it was the job of whoever had been nominated as the head of the household.
In Swindon, the transfer of people from the original register has been high but anyone who may have moved into the town, or moved house, is being reminded to register.
The process is done via a website or by calling the electoral office and process takes less than five minutes.
People can register by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or calling 01793 464601.
