WITH just under six hours remaining to vote, the polling stations around the town continue to be busy.
Despite a few morning showers, the weather has largely cleared which historically will encourage people to turn out.
A second rush is expected around 5pm when people finish work and there is a possibility of queues as people seek to make their mark on the election.
One factor which might have an effect is the Swindon Town play-off game against Sheffield Utd which is televised tonight.
However, many of those who are heading up north for the game have said they headed to polling stations before setting off on the journey.
Among those heading to the game was Jim Little, 55, of Rodbourne, who said while he thought it was important to vote, the Swindon score was a priority.
He said: “I was up early, went to work early, finished at about 10am and then went to vote. I think if you want to vote then you’re going to before the game.
“Swindon is the priority though. I don’t care who wins the election as long as Swindon get a good result.”
