THREE people were arrested after a young woman was assaulted in a brawl outside Casbah’s nightclub in the early hours of Thursday morning.
At around 3.30am, police responded to reports of a group of people fighting in the middle of John Street in the town centre.
A 20-year-old woman was taken to hospital with head injuries. Three other people are believed to have been assaulted during the brawl, with two men, aged 19 and 21, assaulted when they stepped in to help the woman. It is believed one suffered a broken nose.
Three local men in their twenties were arrested in relation to the incident and bailed while police carry out further enquiries.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, and two others, aged 25 and 28, were detained on suspicion of affray.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “Wiltshire Police were called at 3.31am on Thursday, May 7 to a report of a group of people fighting outside Casbah, in John Street, Swindon town centre.
“Four people are believed to have been assaulted, including a 20-year-old woman from Swindon who was assaulted by a male, and sustained head injuries. She was taken to the Great Western Hospital to be checked over.
“Three people have been arrested in relation to this incident – a 22-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of ABH, a 25-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of affray and for being unlawfully at large and a 28-year-old man also from Swindon, was arrested on suspicion of affray. All three have been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them with any information that might help with the investigation.
