SWINDON’S Halfords store is offering free bike servicing and money off parts to encourage more people to take up cycling as part of the Big Bike Revival.
Between Tuesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 28, the shop in Fleming Way will be supporting the Big Bike Revival.
It is a national campaign aimed at getting thousands of unused bikes out of garden sheds and back on the roads.
Halfords spokeswoman Emma Thomas said: “There are lots of forgotten bikes hidden away that, with a service and some TLC, will give a summer of great cycling.
“It will help make memories and inspire a love of cycling for years to come.”
Halfords is also encouraging more children and adults to get back on their bikes with its free kids’ bike workshops, which have been attended by 58,000 children and parents nationally .
Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman, who is supporting the campaign, said: “With summer almost upon us, there’s really no better time to put a new lease of life into an old, dusty bike and get out into the fresh air on two wheels.
“Whether you’re aiming to get fit and shed a few pounds, fancy a new commute to work or are looking for new, active outings your family can do together, this initiative is sure to reignite our nation’s passion for cycling.”
