TRAFFIC lights along the length of Thamesdown Drive are out of action due to a major power cut in the area.
Police are urging drivers to proceed with extreme caution in the area or, if possible, to find alternate routes.
Around 2,000 customers were affected by the fault in the main network, which occurred at 5pm.
Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution engineers are working on the problem, but they expect customers to be affected for the next three to four hours.
Mobile generators are being brought in while the cause of the fault is found.
Around 800 customers are still affected in the North Swindon area with reconnection hoped for by midnight.
