Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Old Town in the early hours of Friday.

A 30-year-old man was seriously assaulted leaving him with lacerations to his head that required 22 stitches.

The victim was found by a member of the public in Chandler Close and reported being assaulted by a number of people while at a house party.

The victim had been in The Sir Daniel Arms some hours before the assault occurred and had met two men in the pub.

He didn't know them but the victim recalls leaving the pub with them and ending the evening at a party where it is believed he was assaulted.

The men in photographs issued by police are not believed to be suspects in the assault but they may have vital information and police want them to come forward to assist in enquiries.

A spokesman said: "If you have any information which might assist the investigation or if you are one of the males in the photograph please contact Detective Constable 1420 Sonia Marsh at Gablecross CID on 101, extension 760585. Alternatively you can contact Wiltshire Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
