A SPURNED lover who pursued his former partner in a 100mph car chase, crashing into the vehicle three times, has been jailed for a year.
Luke Blackmore had been keeping tabs the mother of his child after their relationship broke down, despite being banned from contacting her.
But when he saw her in the car of her new man he chased them on a dual carriageway and pulled in front of the car at junctions, smashing into the wing.
And when the victims decided to drive to the police station the 31-year-old careered into the back of the vehicle as it slowed on a slip road.
Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court former drug dealer Blackmore and the woman had been together for three years before she ended it.
"The defendant has found it difficult to accept that fact. He refused to allow her to move on. He exhibited controlling and abusive behaviour towards her," she said.
Because of his behaviour after last May's split she got a non molestation order to ban him from contacting her, or going within 100 metres of her home.
He was still allowed contact with their two-year-old daughter at his aunt's house, but he started to abuse the arrangement by being there when his ex arrived to collect her.
He also sent her numerous messages on her phone and repeatedly called her, contacted her via Facebook and seemed to know about her movements.
On Tuesday, January 27, after dropping the child at her grandmother's Blunsdon home, she was getting a lift with her new man when they saw Blackmore's red BMW at 7pm.
As they slowed at lights near the Premier Inn on the A419 the defendant's car cut in front of the Astra they were in, smashing into the driver's side front wing.
Blackmore then got out and was running at them when the driver, who had been threatened by him before, managed to reverse and drive off.
The defendant followed, overtaking and performing the same manoeuvre again on the B4019 as they headed back towards the A419.
He again got out and started to frantically punch the driver's window of the Astra, which again drove away.
Blackmore, who was jailed for two years for drug dealing when they were together, chased as they went south along the dual carriageway, weaving in an out of traffic at more than 100mph.
Fearing what may happen the couple dialled 999 and decided to go to Gablecross police station, but as they stopped on the slip road the BMW ploughed into them.
Blackmore, of Cunningham Road, Pinehurst, admitted dangerous driving and breaching a non molestation order.
Rob Ross, defending, said "It is a fairly typical situation where a couple had been together, they have a child, one of them has had enough, they decided to keep contact for the child.
"Sometimes men, young men, like Luke Blackmore hold out for things being better than they actually were. He didn't like the idea of her seeing anyone else.
"Stupidly when he saw them he gave chase. He accepts he behaved like a reckless idiot. Not just for him, not just for them, but for everyone else driving on the A419 at that time."
Since his release from prison he said he had qualified as an HGV driver but would not be able to work as he faced a ban for the driving matter.
Jailing him, Judge Peter Blair QC said: "I have to sentence you for breaching a court order.
"An order that was imposed upon you by the family court in very clear terms about you having no contact with your former partner, but which in a very short period of time you were breaching.
"The seriousness of that can't be overemphasised. The courts are there to regard and protect people in situations such as the one you and your former partner were in."
He also banned him from the road for 18 months and imposes a restraining order banning him from contacting the woman for three years.
