CHARICE and Amberstasia Gassman will remain in custody charged with the murder of 49-year-old Alison Connolly.

Appearing at Bristol Crown Court this morning via video link from HMP Eastwood Park, the sisters did not ask for bail, and spoke only to confirm their names and that they understood what was happening.

Alex Daymond, defending, told the court: "The case is listed for consideration of bail, but there will be no application for bail today.

"A second post-mortem is in hand, and the pathologist has indicated he hopes to conduct that examination on Monday, so things are moving forward."

Amberstasia, 23, dressed in black, and younger sister Charice, 19, in a white tracksuit, sat solemnly as four members of their family watched the proceedings.

A date for the plea and case management hearing was set for June 16, when the pair will return to court, Claire Marlow, prosecuting, said: "There is a great deal still outstanding and a third person still in bail in relation to this."

His Honour Judge Longman, presiding, set the case back until next month.

"I am adjourning the case for four weeks to June 16, which will be your next hearing," he said.

"You will attend that hearing via video link, and in the meantime you will both be remanded in custody."

Ms Connolly, of Penhill Drive, died on Tuesday after being found stabbed at the bottom of a communal stairway in Evelyn House, Park South.

Paramedics attempted to revive her and she was flown to Great Western Hospital, but soon died of her injuries.

Three women were arrest later that day, and a murder investigation launched.

A 19-year-old woman, from Swindon, was bailed late in Friday in connection with Ms Connolly's death, and inquiries are continuing.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident, which occurred shortly before 3.45pm in Cavendish Square, to contact them urgently via 101.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
